This little coastal paradise is less than an hour's drive from East London and is an excellent springboard for the Wild Coast. It's a quiet little holiday town and is a marvellous resort that offers a range of fun activities on the long, lovely beach or in the quiet lagoon. There are small game sanctuaries nearby and a number of interesting cultural destinations.
The town is divided into Cintsa East and Cintsa West, separated by the river and lagoon. The western side is very popular with backpackers while the eastern side has a few more upmarket accommodation establishments although there is some overlap.
The one thing that stands out about this area is how quiet it is. The only sounds that can be heard are those coming from the sea and the odd car driving past on the gravel roads near the dunes. A pub and restuarant has been built where a small general dealer's shop used to stand. The view from the deck is nothing short of spectacular.
You can see the beach stretching out ahead of you in an unending splendour. As you walk along the shore, the serenity and silence of Cintsa will truly make you feel as if you are in another world. Given the short driving distance that Cintsa is from East London, it's hard to believe how far away city life seems.
